It’s always good news when a teacher receives recognition for their dedication, creativity, and the impact they have on children and young adults. Staten Island native Lucinda Ferreri, who’s been a teacher of English and language arts for some 27 years, has been presented with the 2025-2026 New Jersey Governor’s Teacher of the Year Award for Hillsborough (N.J.) Middle School in Hillsborough Township.
The selection process began when schools throughout New Jersey were asked to select an educator who stands out as an inspiration to students and colleagues. This year, Hillsborough Middle School received more than 100 nomination letters recognizing over 50 exceptional educators.
