Staten Island University Hospital appoints Dr. Joanna Pierro to pediatrics leadership role

Northwell’s Staten Island University Hospital has appointed Dr. Joanna Pierro as associate chair of pediatrics, a role that recognizes her work in pediatric hematology and oncology, medical education, and clinical care. Pierro will oversee clinical programs across the pediatrics department, including quality, safety, and performance initiatives, while supporting faculty, residents, and advanced care providers.

She will guide the strategic growth of pediatric subspecialty services and lead faculty development efforts while continuing to care for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. “Dr. Pierro brings exceptional clinical experience and a deep commitment to training the next generation of pediatricians,” said Dr. Jonathan Blau, chair of the department of pediatrics at Staten Island University Hospital.
