In 1980 it was decided that the Italian Heritage Festival needed to produce a cookbook that would contain all the popular recipes that were produced in North Central West Virginia. Martina Neely decided to take on the project with inspiration from Maureen Conley.
Merle Moore, who operated a publishing company called Back Fork Books, Inc., which was in Webster Springs managed that end of the book. PDQ Print Shop printed the book. Carolyn Cavindish furnished the artwork placed throughout the book. A percentage of the book sales was donated to the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival.
