John Donio was brought up to care about his family and his community, and he’s a single dad doing so for his two children, Frankie (24) and Ella (9), and a busy businessman and active civic leader for the two places he calls home, Wildwood and Hammonton, N.J.
“I just want my children to think that ‘Dad loved. Dad cared. Dad was there for us, but Dad was also there for others.’ “Once you hit that half-century mark, you start thinking about what people are going to remember me by,” he said, and that’s why he has taught his children “the golden rule of doing unto others, of helping the poor and keeping an open mind with people who disagree with you.”
