U.S. military leaders and local Italian officials gathered here to commemorate the 1944 joint liberation of the historic town, honoring the enduring alliance forged during World War II.U.S. Army Garrison Italy Deputy Garrison Manager Timothy Andersen joined Pietrasanta Mayor Alberto Stefano Giovannetti for the commemoration ceremony.
They were accompanied by Maj. Tulsi Rogers, command judge advocate, as well as Capt. Liam Thomas and Senior Airman Emile Wennergren, both representing the 731st Munitions Squadron. The annual gathering serves as a tribute to the sacrifices made by Allied forces and local partisans who fought together to liberate the region.
