West Orange Township, along with Mayor Susan McCartney, UNICO, and students in the West Orange Italian language program, recognized Italian American Heritage Month on Oct. 14. The West Orange High School AFJROTC opened the program with the posting of the colors, followed by WOHS senior Amelie Swayze singing the National Anthem.
Members of the high school Italian Club and Italian Honor Society performed the Italian National Anthem. The Italian Language program is more popular than ever, with an estimated 300 students taking Italian in the middle and high schools.
