The West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival got an early start with the annual pasta cook off, held Saturday at Jackson Square. More than ten cooks entered their sauces in the competition. Attendees tasted the different entries before people’s choice and judges’ winners were selected.
The day also featured a homemade wine contest, hot pepper contest and Run for the Rosé. Organizers said the event is about more than food. They said it is also a way to celebrate the generations of Italian-Americans who helped build the community.
