The Historical Commission has agreed to hear a request for a study committee to look into the creation of a local historic district in the area of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. The commission unanimously voted Thursday night to formally take up the request next month.
The Mount Carmel Preservation Society, which has been fighting to save the now-vacant Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church from being sold and/or demolished, asked for the consideration in correspondence sent to the commission two weeks ago.
