The mission of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is to support Italian Americans in continuing to keep alive and present their culturally rich heritage and traditions and to ensure that the entire community never forgets the great contribution that Italians have made to the history and progress of the United States.
Pietro Viola's illustration depicts the historical bond between Italy and the United States through the representation of some of the symbolic monuments of the two countries. The connection is twofold, at the top the Golden Bridge, at the bottom the flags that, from the NIAF logo, outlined by the hand symbolizing loyalty, friendship and trust, like pieces of a puzzle come together perfectly.
A gift given to NIAF President Robert Allegrini and to all the members of the board through Alma Laias, a long time friend and supporter of NIAF, who is in these days in Washington and attended the NIAF Gala dinner in New York.
