Wine Tasting series: Wines of Southern Italy

Jan 20, 2016 624

Southern Italy has been producing wine for 4000 years. Yet the wines from Italy's southern regions are not household names like their cousins from Tuscany and Piedmont. All this may be changing. For a very long time, southern grapes were sent to Northern Italy and Southern France as blends for many of their wines. Now a new group of young vintners as well as some of the longstanding wine families in the area are producing some truly great wine from the numerous varieties of southern Italian grapes like aglianico, primitivo, negroamaro, and nero d'avola.

Join ICC board member and Italian wine aficionado, Dominic Sposeto, for a tasting of southern Italian wines. We will travel to Campania, Calabria, Puglia, Basilitica and of course Sicily to sample their wares. ICC Board member and experienced caterer, Giada Nucera is providing tasty edibles and palate cleansers. The event will be held Friday, January 22nd 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Rosenthal's Contemporary Furniture showroom in downtown Minneapolis, 22 N. 5th Street. You will have an opportunity to view several lines of modern Italian furniture while sipping your wine. Space is limited! Register now.
