Can you believe it's been 25 years since the release of the hit film, A Bronx Tale? the best way to celebrate 25 years of this iconic film? Seeing the musical version at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre! It tells the coming of age story of an Italian-American boy, Calogero Anello, who, after encountering a local mafia boss, is torn between the temptations of organized crime and the values of his honest, hardworking father. The Broadway production was converted to film with limited changes, and starred Palminteri and Robert De Niro.
I sat down with the one and only Chazz Palminteri today at Miceli's restaurant in Hollywood, where we talked about bringing The Bronx to the Boulevard! Chazz told me that he remembers performing the play version 30 years ago to a 60 seat theater in Hollywood, and then 5 years later, it became the popular film we still know and love today and adapted from Palminteri's 1989 play.
