Tuesday, December 12, 2017 | 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Italian Cultural Institute - 601 Van Ness Ave, Suite F - San Francisco. Free Admission | RSVP One and No-one: A Pirandello Extravaganza. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Pirandello's birth

Join us for an evening of revelry to celebrate 150 years from the birth of Nobel laureate Luigi Pirandello. Internationally acclaimed for his ground-breaking theatricals, Pirandello's influence spans from the 1920s to the post-war revivals to contemporary videos revisiting the 1932 movie adaptation of "As you Desire Me," starring Greta Garbo.

One of the unjustly neglected women writers of the 20th century, Paola Masino eventually became Pirandello's confidante - so much so that he entrusted her with a two-page manuscript fragment entitled Nemo (Nobody). Shortly before her death in 1989, Masino passed it on to her friend Count Federico Wardal, who will perform it for the Institute's audience.

How Pirandello became "Pirandellian"; Modernism never dies: Garbo / Vezzoli (As You Desire Me); 150 years of "novecento": Pirandello, Joyce, Bontempelli, Masino; Nemo: an unpublished fragment performed by Count Federico Wardal.

Wine & refreshments will be served.
