San Luis Obispo's street painting festival has a colorful new name.

The annual event will now be called Via dei Colori SLO, which is Italian for "street of colors," according to Micah Smith, spokesman for American Institute of Architects Central Coast Chapter.

Formerly known as the I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival — and, briefly, SLO I Madonnari — Via dei Colori SLO will feature dozens of artists creating large chalk paintings Sept. 13 and 14 in downtown San Luis Obispo.
