As the 39th annual West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival was wrapping up Sunday, people were still milling about the streets, enjoying the entertainment, food and friendly atmosphere. Regina Maria XXXIX Alyssa Oliverio said the weekend went great and added Sunday was a nice day to close the festival down.

“It’s beautiful out and a perfect note to end the festival on,” she said. “The crowd’s back to its usual self, the vendors have been working hard to get their food out and the entertainment has been great.” Although the weather wasn’t ideal the first two days, Oliverio said it was nice not having to worry about people being out in the heat too long. It was a nice weekend to gather around and celebrate with new and old friends, she said.
