Biagio DiMercurio, 89, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at his home. Born in Partinico, Sicily, on Feb. 25, 1929, he was a son of the late Giuseppa (Di Liberto) and Salvatore DiMercurio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Caterina DiMercurio; and his brother, Gaspare DiMercurio.
Biagio was a member for St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Hagerstown, Hagerstown Elks Lodge 378, and the Sons of Italy of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Hagerstown chapters. He was known as the local champ of bocci around the neighborhood. Biagio is survived by two sons, Sal DiMercurio, M.D., and wife, Jean R. DiMercurio, and Dom DiMercurio and wife, Donna DiMercurio, all of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Erica, Kristin, Michael, Phillip, Melissa, Dominick II and Nicholas; one sister, Benedetta DiMercurio Manno and husband, Gaspare; brother-in-law, Peter Greco and wife, Nancy; and nephew, Dominick Greco.
