A township organization will hold an Italian flag raising Friday morning in commemoration of Columbus Day and Italian heritage. The flag raising will be held at 10 a.m. at the Brick Municipal Building on Chambers Bridge Road. “Come help us help us celebrate Columbus Day and our Italian Heritage,” Brick Unico President Lisa Pizzella said. She will be welcoming everyone to the event which will include a flag salute by member Hank Shindel.
A prayer will be offered by Alan Florio, the club’s division chairperson. Brick Unico Vice President Rae Saulino, Brick Mayor John Ducey and members of council are also expected to be present and a proclamation will be made by Ocean County Commissioner Joseph Vicari. New Jersey Italian American Heritage Commission Chairman Robert Di Biase and Italian American One Voice Coalition Andre DiMino will also be present.
