Dear friends of Italy, Italians and Italian Americans,
When I began service as Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia it was in many ways like coming home. This great region boasts one of the most accomplished and largest populations of Italian Americans in the United States. The birthplace of the United States of America, Philadelphia is a city deeply connected to the Italian way of living with its universities, museums, art centers and neighborhoods, which are rich of examples of Italian heritage.
I am proud to announce that in partnership with area civic, academic, cultural and business leaders, we are launching the first annual Ciao Philadelphia. This month-long series of more than 30 open-to-the-public events will highlight the contributions of Italian Americans to the Greater Philadelphia region and, indeed, the world.
