After nearly four years in Washington, the Italian ambassador to the United States, Claudio Bisogniero, is on his way to Brussels to begin his new post as Italy's ambassador to NATO, which he described as a "very important assignment at a crucial time."

The extra miles logged is business as usual in the peripatetic life of a diplomat, but Bisogniero, who was particularly social among the embassy set (classical music fans, he and his wife, Laura Denise, were regular faces at National Symphony Orchestra concerts), will absolutely miss Washington.
