The state-wide winners of the Garibaldi Awards have been announced. The award is given to graduating seniors who have excelled in Italian Studies and who also have contributed to the Italian American legacy in America, in community service or through extra-curriculars. The honor is conferred by the Silvio Laccetti Foundation. Prof. Laccetti is a retired Professor of History from Stevens Tech, Hoboken. This year, 10 awards were granted, along with 4 honorable mentions.
This year’s winners are Isabella Marra, Becton of Regional High School (East Rutherford); Cathrine Djelevic of Dumont High School, Katelyn Peterson of Lyndhurst High School, Lauren Lalama and Christina Folan of Passaic Valley High School, Anthony Brach of Bridgewater-Raritan High School, Julianna Russotti of Watchung Hills Regional High School, Gabriella LaFalce and Erin Getcliffe of Point Pleasant Borough High School, and Angelina Galletta of Hammonton High School.
