The Gloucester County Italian Heritage Commission announced Judge Samuel G. DeSimone is its choice for 2015 Italian-American Citizen of the Year. The commission selected DeSimone in recognition of his service a Superior Court hudge and for his numerous contributions to the people and communities of South Jersey.

The son of immigrants from Penne, Italy, DeSimone feels honored for his nomination as Italian-American Citizen of the Year. "[My father] emphasized the love of America and obtaining a good education," DeSimone said. "He was my role model and my hero. I love America and respect my ancestral home, having visited Italy numerous times over the years.
