For many people, an Italian festival means deep-fried rice balls, zeppoles, and homemade Italian pastries. But this year's La Festa Italiana, the 110th of its kind, is celebrating a special occasion for the parishioners of Holy Rosary Church (344 Sixth Street): 128 years as the first Italian parish in New Jersey. The festival also venerates the feast days of Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Rocco. For five days – Wednesday, August 15 through Sunday, August 18, from 5 to 11 pm, guests will be able to enjoy food, games, dancing, live entertainment, and special masses to honor the holy days.
"We are pleased to share La Festa Italiana with our devoted parishioners, beloved neighbors and extended Jersey City family," said Rev. Jerzy "Jurek" Zaslona, Holy Rosary Church's Pastor.
