Mayor-elect John Pallone celebrated his victory in Tuesday's city elections over his long-time rival Adam Schneider from a hospital bed at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The 62-year-old councilman was in the hospital for heart surgery, said Mitch Seim, his campaign manager. Seim said Pallone is recovering and could be released from the hospital as early as Friday.
"He was as jubilant as his doctors would allow him to be," Seim said about Pallone's reaction to the win. Seim however, declined to further discuss Pallone's medical condition. According to a report from More Monmouth Musings which reported first on the story, one of Pallone's running mates Mary Jane Celli made the announcement at the campaign party held at the Italian American club.
