Together with our friends at the Music Programs of the National Gallery of Art, we are pleased to present the Quartetto Noûs, performing a classical recital of string quartets by Boccherini, Puccini and Mozart from the breathtaking setting of Villa Carlotta on Lake Como, Italy.
Noûs (nùs), the ancient Greek word for “mind” and “intellect”, thus “rationality”, was also used in philosophy to refer to the faculty of the human mind to perceive inspiration and creativity, and therefore defined as the mind’s eye. By choosing this name, Quartetto Noûs’ goal is to reach the audience at a deeper level that only the mind’s eye can perceive.
