The Italian American Club held its semi-annual pig roast fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 23. The event attracted 350 attendees, including former Governor Donald DiFrancesco, Scotch Plains Mayor Al Smith, and many prominent members of the local Italian American community. "This is always a successful event, thanks to the hard work of the members," said Bob LaCosta, who served as one of the bartenders at the fundraiser.
The Italian American Club is a private non-profit organization established by immigrants primarily from the small village of Montazzoli in the Abruzzi region of Italy. Club members continue to maintain strong ties with the region and the Old World family values characterized by hard work, love, family and a celebration of life.
