Several years ago, the Lock Haven Sons of Italy lodge erected a flag pole in honor of James “Jim” Sementelli, a veteran and member of the Sons who lost his life 13 years ago in a brutal murder.
The flag pole was erected and remained unassailed in front of the Immaculate Conception Church across the street from the Lock Haven Catholic School until a group of college students apparently found it a challenge too tempting to resist and decided to climb the pole last year. Their weight on the pole bent it beyond repair.
