The oldest Sons of Italy chapter in New Jersey installed Pat Smarrito of Glendora as its new president during its 100th anniversary celebration Sunday.
Daniel J. Longo, the national president of the Order Sons of Italy in America, participated in the installation of officers of Alighieri Garibaldi Lodge 494, which had its roots in South Camden and now meets monthly at Holy Savior church at 50 Emerald Ave. in Westmont. The centennial celebration, called "Cent'anni," (Italian for 100 years), was at Marco's Restaurant at the Pennsauken Country Club.
