The St. Anthony's Italian Festival runs through this weekend in Wilmington, offering attendees a chance to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, Midway carnival rides and live entertainment. The long-running festival, which takes place in the city's Little Italy section, benefits the St. Anthony of Padua Grade School and generally draws large crowds throughout the week.
"We joke that everyone is Italian for the week," said Anthony Albence, a festival organizer. "There's folks from all walks of life and the community who come together and we really enjoy being a gathering point." The festival this year is focused on the Abruzzo region of Italy, which Albence said is a section that many locals are familiar with.
