The Christmas and Thanksgiving Dinners for the Homeless held in November and December served approximately 1,000 meals to approximately 600 guests. Both dinners are hosted annually by St. Leo's Church. Numerous volunteers of all ages, including students from Loyola Blakefield High School, worked together to make the dinners a lovely experience for the guests.
The hot meals consist of sliced white meat turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, cranberry sauce, roll, soft drink, and various pies. The kitchen crew always performs an outstanding job and guests walk away with full stomachs and complimentary gift bags containing hats/gloves/scarves donated by Promotion Center for Little Italy and hats, socks and dental items donated by St. Anthony Society, the St. Leo's ministry which hosts the dinner.
