The historic St. Michael's Catholic Church, located on Cianci Street in Paterson, concluded its operations with a final mass on Sunday. Established over a century ago, the church served as the first Italian church in Paterson, playing a central role in the spiritual life of the community. The closure of St. Micheal's was attributed to building violations, leading to its cessation of activities.
The decision saddened many parishioners who had long been associated with the church, as they grappled with the loss of a place of worship that held deep personal significance. "We shouldn't forget the protection of Archangel Michael, and hopefully, we'll soon see God's grace in this situation," Reverend Enrique Corona said.
