If you closed your eyes and smelled the air in Bluefield Saturday you may have thought you were in Italy. The tastes of Italy is here in Bluefield thanks to the Bluefield-Princeton Italian Lodge. Saturday brought in the 21st Annual Southern West Virginia Italian-American festival at the Bluefield Auditorium. It is the lodges one fundraiser of the year.
Lodge members say they make hundreds of pounds of italian food to sell and raise money for local students gearing up for college. "We have applications that go out that are good for a high school student graduation and in four years they can get up to four different scholarships," says Nick Ameli. He says they hold the event annually in October.
