Thousands line the streets in Jessup for Race of the Saints

By: Haley Bianco

Thousands of people have made their way to Northeastern Pennsylvania tonight for an Italian tradition. Each year, locals host what's called the Race of the Saints through the streets of Jessup. When immigrants came to NEPA in 1909, they brought back a piece of Italy with them, and they've kept it alive.

"It's generation after generation of runners," said Michael Cappellini, team captain. The festival honors the life and legacy of Saint Ubaldo, the patron Saint of Gubbio, Italy. Statues of Saints Ubaldo, Anthony and George are raised and carried through the streets of Jessup, just like it's done in Gubbio.
