Among the best Italian musicians of their generation, Francesca Dego (violin) and Francesca Leonardi(piano) have been performing together worldwide for the past ten years, with repertoire ranging from Baroque to new music.
Opening our fall concert series, this Italian themed recital will feature Respighi’s Violin Sonata in B minor, a dramatic and powerful piece whose stormy main theme yields both profound and colorful music; Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne, a charming and witty adaptation of the themes from his own neoclassical ballet Pulcinella and Szymanowski’s Three Paganini Caprices op. 40, an adaptation of Paganini’s 20th, 21st and 24th caprices, which drips with an opulent pre-war Viennese harmonic lacquer.
