Where's the most Italian place in the United States? We could just check the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, whose latest numbers came out this month, but how much fun would that be? Instead, we went to Luigi's Restaurant & Gourmet Express, a well-regarded Johnston eatery founded by the very Italian Luigi Vincenzo Battista.
"You don't get more Italian than that," said Battista's son, Ralph Battista, current owner of the restaurant. A quick poll of customers yielded a few possibilities for the most Italian place in America. "I'd say Federal Hill," offered Lucille Santurri, a Johnston resident who revealed she's Italian by marriage, French by birth.
