The Cleveland Italian Film Festival is the first independent film festival in Northeast Ohio to exclusively showcase award winning Italian films from Italy in Cleveland theaters for the general public in Italian with English subtitles and is dedicated to promote the Italian language and culture.

Italian films were formerly shown on a sporadic basis in Cleveland, and the Cleveland Italian Film Festival became the first independent film festival to to fill this void by bringing Italian films to Cleveland on a yearly basis shown in a professional theater setting. It is supported by the City of Cleveland, the Consulate of Detroit and the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Cleveland with financial support from the business community in Cleveland.

The films shown are of particular importance to the Italian culture such as on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. The Cleveland Italian Film Festival is a major supporter of the $1.1 million restoration of the Italian Cultural Garden, in Rockefeller Park, Cleveland's cultural monument to Italy in Cleveland. The film festival has grown since its initial debut in 2006 attracting film lovers from Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown and Pennsylvania.
