New members Rita Ohler, Diane Pastoric and Pat Eberhart were introduced when the Italian American Cultural Club met Jan. 9 at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville. Reports were given by Secretary Judy Krenzel and Treasurer Frank DiCarlantonio. A report from the executive board meeting also was discussed. Donations were made to several food banks for the holiday season.
Doby Piergallini has become the chairman of the scholarship committee. January birthdays were celebrated. Assunta Olivieri appeared as “La Befana” who is the old woman who spends her life searching for the Baby Jesus while giving all the children in Italy stockings full of goodies as she comes to every house on the eve of the Epiphany.
