Once known mainly for helping newly-arrived immigrants from Italy, the Order of Sons of Italy in America now raises money for research into various diseases.
Members of the Grand Lodge of Illinois and Wisconsin also appreciate good Italian food and its Orland Park branch is holding a Polenta and Italian Sausage Dinner to raise money for Alzheimer's Disease, autism and Cooley's anemia, a genetic blood disorder.
