Grape stomping, Italian singers and a costume contest were among Sunday’s events at the 52nd annual Little Italy Festival. But a nearly century-old house entertained, educated and brought back memories for festival goers just by being there.
“La Piccola Casa Italiana” - The Little Italian House – is a restored red brick structure smaller than the master bedrooms in many of today’s homes. And there are no walk-in closets. The house at 338 N. Ninth Street, just off the festival’s wine garden, represents how Italians – or immigrants from any country – might have lived when they came to Clinton to work in the area’s many coal mines in the early 20th century.
