Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Italian Cultural Institute, 500 N Michigan Ave, Suite 1450, Chicago (IL). "Rite of Tomorrow," a performance featuring Natalja Aicardi, Daniel Johanson, Roberta Terche Nocentini. In remembrance of the devastating earthquake that struck near the city of L'Aquila in 2009, affecting more than 45 towns, killing 308 people, injuring 1.600, and forcing more than 65.000 inhabitants to leave their homes.
“Rite of tomorrow” is not only an opportunity for remembering the tragedy that struck the Italian town of L'Aquila (Abruzzo), in which 309 people died, but most of all, it is a “rite” for everyone who has experienced loss. When cities and countries are shaken by earthquakes, our souls are shaken by the mourning, the desperation, the loss. This ending is actually a new beginning, a tomorrow that is already here, in our hands, in our minds and in our hearts.
