In keeping with the spirit of the holiday season, the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii will host its annual Mary & Christmas celebration on Dec. 3. Maestro Paul French will lead the Shrine chorale and orchestra in a program of familiar Yuletide favorites and classics.
On the program will be Christmas music from Venice, Rome and Palermo; compositions by Ennio Morricone and Astor Piazzola; selections from Handel’s “Messiah”; and timeless melodies of the season. The concert will feature performances by accordion virtuoso Mary Ann Covone, the father-daughter duo of lyric soprano Mia Rago and baritone Anthony Rago, soprano Josie Falbo, and the Shrine’s own rector, the Rev. Richard Fragomeni.
