Rigatoni, Italian sausage, ravioli, cannoli and more will all be available for tasting during Festa Italiana on Saturday. The event is hosted by Frontenac Education Foundation which provides scholarships for Frontenac High School graduates. “All of the proceeds from Festa go to our student scholarship program we offer,” Frontenac Education Foundation President and Chair Ann Brown said. “Each graduating student from Frontenac will receive $150 scholarship for each semester of college they are in for four years.”
Festa has been a tradition for the Frontenac community since 1999 and at first could only offer $50 scholarships per semester. The event was created to relieve some of the costs of college tuition and textbooks. Brown said the foundation hopes to one day provide even more scholarship money to FHS graduates. Each year they are able to provide about 225 scholarships with a total of approximately $33,000 year.
