Sabino Romano and his family hoisted Italian flags in the air as they brought up the rear of the Columbus Day parade on Saturday morning in Denver. Romano has been showing his support for the holiday at the downtown Denver event for at least 20 years, he said.
"It's an Italian thing," Romano said. "Plus, the party we all have afterward is really nice." The parade made its way through downtown with a few cars, some notable Italians and floats of the Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria ships closing out the lineup. Richard Iannacito, who said most know him as the tomato king, was named the Italian of The Year for the parade.
