Lead’s Italian community will be the main focus for this year’s annual Heritage Festival, June 21-22. Lead Historic Preservation Commission Chairman Terry Smith told the city commission on Monday that the event, sponsored by the Lead Historic Preservation Commission, the South Dakota Humanities Council, the South Dakota Historical Society, South Dakota Arts Council, and the city of Lead continues to grow every year.
This year’s Heritage Festival includes even more activities for all ages. The goal is to draw interest in the history of Lead through arts, culture, and historical tours, and to draw visitors to town to learn about the town’s rich mining heritage.
