In 1981, Antonio Trombetta led an American man wandering through the tiny village of Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy, to the distant cousin he was searching for, Agostino Orsini. Thirty-five years later in May, Trombetta found himself yet again on Orsini's doorstep, this time with another American cousin — Cherrie Brown.
Brown, whose maiden name is DeFonzo, has always had an interest in her Italian heritage. Her grandfather had been one of five siblings immigrating with their parents from Italy in the early 1900s, seeking better opportunity and a new life in America. However, the parents and one daughter eventually returned to their homeland, leaving Brown's grandfather and great-uncles here in America.
