Pueblo's Columbus statue site of further protests as community members seek it's removal

On the afternoon of March 28, several individuals could be found near the Pueblo Columbus statue seeking recognition and action from the city. The action is largely organized through two groups: Take It Down Pueblo and El Movimiento Sigue — The Movement Continues.

Together, the groups are restarting protests from last year concerning the Christopher Columbus Statue located on Abriendo Avenue in the Mesa Junction. Their goal is for the statue — which they say is an "eyesore" —  to be removed, noting research that conflicts with information taught in public school curriculums.
