Since 2014, the Rolla City Council has given city workers the day off on Columbus Day. Monday night, the governing body made it a City Hall holiday again. "It is traditionally a very slow workday," City Administrator John Butz said in his written agenda commentary for the Monday night council meeting.
At the meeting, he added that most residents apparently assume City Hall is closed because other government offices are closed, as are banks. "With council approval we plan to incorporate the holiday in our personnel rules when revised later this year," Butz said.
