Add the names Ernie Almonte and Thomas Peluso to the distinguished list of leaders for the prestigious Italo-American Club of Rhode Island. “Benvenuti!” exclaimed George Lazzareschi Jr., the Italian-American social club’s president, as he welcomed members and guests to the recent swearing-in ceremony inside the historic building at 477 Broadway in Providence. “Tonight, we’re adding another chapter to our club’s history that dates back to 1896.”
Lazzareschi Jr., a Johnston resident who doubles as Providence superintendent of public safety and a famous five-time world champion power lifter, announced that Almonte will take the oath of office and serve as a member of the Italo-American Club’s prestigious Board of Directors, which includes ex-officio Anthony “Nappy” Napiltano, Joe Cinquegrano, Don DiSiderato Jr. and Johnston residents Steven Mallane, Gina Sabitoni-Arekelian and Peter Montequila Jr.
