For nearly 50 years, the crowds have been flocking to Holy Rosary Church, feasting on some of the freshest Italian food, prepared with love by parishioners. The church's 49th annual Italian festival, Festa! 2016, kicks off Thursday and runs through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. on the church grounds, located at 10 Father Salemi Drive. Admission is free.
"It's the food. ... We prepare it ourselves," said Gene Sorcinelli, festival coordinator. "Who cooks better than Italians?" According to Thomas Maffeo, publicity chairman, the festival is a celebration of all things Italian, including the heritage of the parish, whose immigrant roots date back to the early 1900s.
