It was a hall full of heroes and heroines. In the banquet room at Berkshire Hills Country Club, the past and present of the best of Berkshire County soccer gathered on Thursday for the annual Community Italian American Organization's Berkshire County Soccer Hall of Fame Awards and Scholarship Banquet.
The CIAO inducted its 14th class on the night, bringing 10 former players together to celebrate their legacies. In addition to the hall of fame inductions, the CIAO also handed out 20 scholarship to current soccer-playing seniors. "It's quite the honor. With all of the people in this community that have played soccer, that continue to play soccer, just to be mentioned in the same breath with them is amazing," current Taconic coach Shaun Stannard, one of the 10 hall inductees, said.
