Haverhill native and Nashville recording artist Jillian Cardarelli was awarded the Sons of Italy Italian-American Appreciation Award Friday for her accomplishments and devotion to giving back to her home city. Lawrence "Lorenzo" Carnevale, vice president of Victor Emanuel Lodge #1646, made the presentation during a ceremony at Paul C. Rogers Family-Carnevale Funeral Home, Monument Square.

"Her impressive professional achievements as well as her dedication to helping others was in part why she was recognized by the Sons of Italy," said Carnevale. "We are all very proud of her." Cardarelli began singing in her church choir at only four years old.
