October Is "Italian Heritage Month." Here in Massachusetts, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo will host the start of the month with an extravaganza evening ceremony in the House chamber that pays tribute to Italian Americans serving in the House and Senate as well as constitutional offices, and representatives of Italian American organizations from all over the commonwealth.
The Statehouse event, however, is but one of many celebrations all across the state honoring Italian culture and marking the success of the sons and daughters of early Italian immigrants from 'the old country'. One event worth noting is a free musical concert entitled "Italy, American Style" on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at Stephen's Church in Boston's North End.
